Salon Social Media Marketing Tips

What is it about a brand new hairstyle that can make any person instantly feel invincible? Economists will tell you that even in the worst of times, the beauty business finds a way to flourish. In the words of legendary fashion designer Coco Chanel, “Fashion changes, but style endures.” So, how does this enduring industry adapt to online marketing?

Choose the right platform(s).

Social media is all about reaching the most potential clients possible, and with so many platforms it can be hard to know where to focus your efforts. For hair stylists and salon owners we suggest using Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest.  With 1.44 billion people on Facebook and 300 million on Instagram, you cannot market yourself online and ignore those platforms. Also, with a growth rate of 66% up from last year, Pinterest is the trendiest place for hairstylists to snag new clients!

Keep it personal.

While salon owners and corporate franchises should absolutely network their brand on social media, we have found that individual stylists who set up business profiles on social media get the most benefits. Not only is social media the best place to reach females aged 25-34, but its instantaneous results can be a great tool for booking last minute appointments or covering cancellations. (Tip: Post anywhere from 3-4 times per week with an emphasis on evenings and weekends for best results).

Now, what to post?

The great thing about salons is that content is typically not a problem. Just have your camera phone ready and be sure to ask your clients for permission to post their photos and/or for reviews on your Facebook page!
